Product Description
MetaGuard FloorArt is Metamark's 100 micron matte embossed overlaminate for short-term indoor floor graphics. The textured face does two jobs at once: it kills the glare that makes a glossy floor graphic unreadable under retail lighting, and it provides an R9 anti-slip surface tested to DIN 51130:2014 and BS 7976-2:2002. It's also rated for wall graphics — so one roll covers floor and wall decor work instead of two.
Where it fits: retail promotions and aisle graphics, trade show and exhibition floors, café and restaurant decor, office and lobby branding, wayfinding on sealed indoor floors, and short-run campaign work that comes back up in weeks or months rather than years.
Read this before you quote a job. R9 is the entry point of the DIN 51130 scale, which runs R9 through R13. That rating is appropriate for dry, indoor, level floors under normal foot traffic. It is not a wet-area or high-slip-risk product.
- Not for entrances or vestibules where rain gets tracked in — a real consideration during Arizona monsoon season
- Not for kitchens, washrooms, pool decks, or any regularly wet floor
- Not for ramps, stairs, or sloped surfaces
- Not for heavy traffic areas or forklift/cart routes
If the job needs more slip resistance, look at Metamark's MD-MW-R10 MetaWalk, which achieves an R10 rating as a one-part printable system with no separate laminate. Ask us and we'll quote it.

Values are manufacturer typical properties, not specifications. Slip testing is to UK and DIN methods; if your project is bid against a US standard such as ANSI A326.3 or a UL 410 requirement, confirm acceptance with the specifier before ordering. It remains the installer's responsibility to determine suitability for the specific floor and to monitor wear. Full Metamark technical datasheet available on request — email Sales@kgsupplies.com.
Print and application sequence
Floor graphics fail at the edges, and they fail because someone skipped a step. This is the order that works:
- Condition the material. Bring the roll to room temperature and roughly 50% relative humidity before printing.
- Handle by the edges. Do not touch the face film. Keep it free of dust and static — a textured face traps contamination you won't get back out.
- Use the right profile. Correct ICC profiles and heater settings matter here; Metamark publishes profiles for download.
- Let the ink harden. Allow 24–48 hours after printing before lamination and installation so the ink gains its abrasion resistance. This step gets skipped constantly and it's the difference between a graphic that survives the campaign and one that scuffs in week one.
- Test the floor. Paints and floor finishes vary enormously. Apply a sample and check adhesion before committing the full graphic. Note that no liability can be accepted for damage to painted surfaces — the bond between paint and floor is outside anyone's control.
- Prep and apply dry. Smooth, flat, sealed indoor floors only. Clean, dust-free, and structurally sound. Dry application method.
- Work the edges hard. Every failure starts at a lifted edge. Press them down properly.
- Wait 24 hours before exposing the graphic to moisture or any cleaning.
- Monitor it. If edges begin lifting, replace the graphic rather than leaving a trip hazard in place.
