    Why V52

    • DOT-C2 certified. Red/white tape carries the DOT-C2 certification mark per NHTSA 49 CFR 571.108 and is compliant with FMVSS 108.
    • Diamond plate look. Per ORAFOL, the diamond plate prism pattern delivers brighter, more vivid daytime colors than earlier metallized microprism sheeting.
    • Two patterns. Standard 11" red / 7" white, or 6" red / 6" white for shorter runs and tighter spaces.
    • 5-year warranty. A step up from economy DOT-C2 tape.
    • Thin and tough. No more than 0.008" thick, passes a 1/8" mandrel bend and a 100 in-lb Gardner impact with no cracking, and meets LS-300C solvent resistance.

    Application

    • Apply only when both air and surface are 65°F or warmer. On cool mornings, let the trailer warm up in the sun or the shop first.
    • Wipe the surface with isopropyl alcohol and a clean towel and let it dry.
    • Peel the liner and apply with firm squeegee pressure.
    • If a bubble is trapped, prick it with a pin and squeegee the air toward the hole.
    Placement is set by FMVSS 108. Which trailers need conspicuity treatment, and where the tape goes, are set by FMVSS 108 and FMCSA rules.     FAQ

    Is V52 DOT approved?

    Yes — the red/white tape carries the DOT-C2 certification mark per NHTSA 49 CFR 571.108 and is compliant with FMVSS 108.

    Is it brighter at night than V42?

    No — both carry the same minimum night reflectivity. The difference is daytime: per ORAFOL, the diamond plate pattern gives brighter, more vivid color in daylight. V52 also carries a 5-year warranty vs 3 for V42.

    11/7 or 6/6?

    Both are DOT-C2 marked. 11" red / 7" white is the most common trailer pattern; 6" / 6" gives a shorter repeat for smaller panels and tighter spaces. Pick the one that matches your existing tape or spec.

    Does V52 come in solid red or solid white?

    ORAFOL makes V52 in solid red and solid white too, but those do not carry the DOT-C2 mark. Call us if you need them for accent or non-DOT marking.
