ORALITE® V42 DOT-C2 Conspicuity Sheeting
DOT-C2 MarkedFMVSS 108 Compliant11" Red / 7" WhiteEconomy-grade microprismatic trailer tape in the standard 11" red / 7" white pattern, printed with the DOT-C2 certification mark and compliant to FMVSS 108. The budget-friendly way to put compliant conspicuity tape on trailers, trucks and work equipment.
Why V42
- DOT-C2 certified. Carries the DOT-C2 certification mark per NHTSA 49 CFR 571.108 and is compliant to FMVSS 108.
- Economy price point. Microprismatic performance with a 3-year warranty — sized for budget jobs, short-cycle trailers and rental fleets.
- Metallized microprisms. Cube-corner prisms with a vacuum-deposited aluminum mirror coating, bonded to a UV-stabilized polymeric film.
- Thin and flexible. No more than 0.008" thick and passes a 1/8" mandrel bend with no cracking — follows corrugations and radiused edges.
- Tougher than it looks. Passes a 100 in-lb Gardner impact with no cracking and meets LS-300C solvent resistance.
- High-tack adhesive. Aggressive pressure-sensitive adhesive with a peel-off liner.

Application
- Apply only when both air and surface are 65°F or warmer. On cool mornings, let the trailer warm up in the sun or the shop first.
- Wipe the surface with isopropyl alcohol and a clean towel and let it dry.
- Peel the liner and apply with firm squeegee pressure.
- If a bubble is trapped, prick it with a pin and squeegee the air toward the hole.
FAQ
Is V42 DOT approved?
Yes. V42 carries the DOT-C2 certification mark per NHTSA 49 CFR 571.108 and is compliant to FMVSS 108.
What's the difference between "economy" and premium DOT-C2 tape?
Mainly warranty. V42 carries a 3-year warranty; premium ORALITE® DOT-C2 tapes such as V82 DOT-C2 carry 10 years. For trailers you plan to keep in service for many years — especially in hot, high-UV climates — ask us about the longer-life option.
Does it come in a 6" / 6" pattern or solid white?
V42 is offered in the 11" red / 7" white pattern only.
Is this the same as solid-color reflective tape?
No. Solid-color tapes such as ORALITE® V82 Solid Color don't carry the DOT-C2 mark and aren't the red/white pattern required for trailer conspicuity. Use V42 or another DOT-C2 tape for that.
