ORAJET® 3930 Photoluminescent is a three-layered, 6-mil high-performance PVC film with a light yellow gloss face that absorbs ambient light and releases it as a strong, long-lasting afterglow once the light source is removed. Its phosphorescent performance does not degrade with repeated charge and discharge cycles — the film recharges every time the lights come on, indefinitely.
The film is cadmium-free and contains no radioactive materials. It prints on latex, solvent, eco-solvent, and UV curable systems, which lets shops produce custom glow signage rather than stocking pre-printed stock symbols.

Photoluminescent egress marking is frequently governed by building and life-safety codes, and those codes call for materials tested and listed to specific standards. ORAFOL's technical data sheet for 3930 publishes luminance and decay performance but does not state a UL 1994, NFPA, IBC, ISO 16069, DIN 67510, or ASTM E2072 listing or classification for this product. If your project is code-driven — a permitted egress path marking system, a listed exit sign, or anything subject to AHJ review — confirm the required standard with your authority having jurisdiction and confirm listing status with ORAFOL in writing before ordering. Values are averages. Real-world glow depends on how much light the film received before the source was removed, the type of light source, and the distance from it. Photoluminescent film charges best under bright, consistent ambient light — a fixture that is off during the day will not charge the graphic.

Printing on Photoluminescent Film
Ink Blocks the Glow
The afterglow comes from the film itself, not from the ink. Anywhere you lay down ink, you reduce or eliminate the glow in that area. Design accordingly: on glow signage the standard approach is to print the symbol, text, or border and leave the areas that need to be visible in the dark unprinted, so the graphic reads as bright shapes against dark once the lights go out. Heavy full-coverage printing will effectively cancel the product's core function.
Color Shifts on a Yellow Base
The face is light yellow, not white. Colors will render warmer than they would on a white film, and cool tones in particular will shift. Proof on the actual material before approving a customer's artwork — a monitor proof or a proof on white media will not represent the finished result.
Ink Drying
Use ORAFOL ICC profiles from orafolamericas.com, and allow solvent-based inks to dry a minimum of 24 hours — 48 to 72 hours preferred — at 70°F before cutting the graphic or applying a laminate.
Surface Preparation
Clean the substrate thoroughly of dust, grease, and contamination. Freshly lacquered or painted surfaces must be fully cured, and lacquer and paint compatibility should be tested prior to application. Batch traceability by roll number is available under ISO 9001.
