Product Description
ORAJET® 3164HT High-Tack Calendered PVC Digital Media – 4 Mil Soft Calendered Film in Gloss White, Matte White & Gloss Transparent – Clear Water-Based Permanent Adhesive
Clear Water-Based Permanent Adhesive | Powder Coatings & Smooth Low-Energy Surfaces | Gloss, Matte or Transparent | 2-Year Shelf Life
ORAJET® 3164HT is the entry point into the ORAFOL high-tack lineup — a 4-mil soft calendered PVC film engineered for short-to medium-term industrial labels and decals on the surfaces that defeat standard permanent adhesives. Powder-coated equipment, smooth low surface energy plastics, and the everyday production work that doesn't justify a premium cast film.
The clear, water-based permanent adhesive delivers 5.0 lb/in on stainless steel with a 4-year unprinted life expectancy, and the film is offered in three faces: gloss white, matte white, and gloss transparent. Prints on latex, solvent, eco-solvent, and UV curable systems. Fire rated ASTM E 84-07 Class "A" and self-extinguishing on steel per DIN 75200.
Where 3164HT Fits
- Industrial labels and decals — short-to medium-term runs with brilliant color reproduction.
- Powder-coated surfaces — equipment housings, frames, fabricated metal, machinery panels.
- Hard-hat decals and safety markings — high-volume, replaceable identification graphics.
- Portable sanitation and rental fleet — porta-johns, job site equipment, temporary asset marking.
- Smooth low surface energy plastics — flat and semi-flat applications.
- Gloss transparent option — second-surface and window applications, or overprints where the substrate color should show through.
Clear Water-Based Adhesive — What It Means for the Job
The clear adhesive on 3164HT lets the substrate read through, which is exactly what you want on the transparent film and on light-colored equipment. It is also the practical difference between 3164HT and 3105HT: where 3105HT's grey adhesive blocks a dark substrate underneath, 3164HT does not. On black plastic or a dark powder coat, plan on stepping up to 3105HT to keep your whites clean.

Recommended ORAGUARD® Overlaminates
ORAGUARD® Series 200, 210, 215, and 215DU are the recommended laminates for 3164HT. Series 200 and 210 are the standard economical pairings that keep the finished cost in line with the film; 215 and 215DU add durability where the graphic sees more abrasion or handling.

Printing & Application Notes
Ink Drying
Use ORAFOL ICC profiles from the Support section at orafol.com. Allow solvent-based inks to dry a minimum of 24 hours — 48 to 72 hours preferred — at 70°F before cutting the graphic or applying a laminate. Trapped solvent is the leading cause of edge lift and laminate failure on high-tack media.
Surface Preparation
Clean the substrate thoroughly of dust, grease, and any contamination that could interfere with adhesion. Freshly lacquered or painted surfaces must be fully cured, and the compatibility of specific lacquers and paints should be tested before production. Structured or textured films are more sensitive than smooth films in both processing and cleaning, and require more frequent cleaning in service.
