ORABOND 1375 is an unsupported adhesive transfer tape: 2.25 mil of pure acrylic adhesive on a double-sided siliconized liner, with no carrier film in between. It's built for permanent bonding of nameplates, fascia panels, front plates and display components to metal and high-energy plastics, where the joint has to hold shear load and survive heat, UV and solvent exposure for the life of the part. Certified to UL 969. Sold in 55-yard rolls, 12", 24" and 48".

What it's for
ORAFOL positions 1375 as an adhesive medium for signs, decorations, front plates and displays that need extremely high shear strength, adhesion strength and temperature resistance. In practice:
- Metal and plastic nameplates — serial plates, rating plates, equipment ID
- Fascia panels and front plates for electronics enclosures and control panels
- Sign and display fabrication — bonding faces, trim, dimensional letters and panel components
- Graphic and overlay attachment to metal and high-energy plastics
- Die-cut gaskets, spacers and custom shapes — the unsupported construction die-cuts cleanly
- Laminating rigid substrates where a foam tape would be too thick and a carrier film would telegraph
Why "unsupported" matters
A transfer tape is adhesive with no carrier — just a film of adhesive on a release liner. Compared with a double-sided tape that has a PET or tissue carrier, that buys you three things on rigid assembly work:
- No visible line. Nothing telegraphs through a thin faceplate or shows at the edge of a bonded panel.
- Direct load path. There's no carrier layer to shear between the two bonded surfaces, which is where the 1,000-hour static shear figure comes from.
- Clean die-cutting. No carrier to fracture or fray on intricate cuts.
The trade-off is that unsupported tape has no built-in gap-filling ability. Both surfaces need to mate closely and be reasonably smooth — which is exactly the application ORAFOL specifies it for.
What UL 969 certification means
UL 969 is the standard for marking and labeling systems — it evaluates whether a label and its adhesive stay legible and stay attached under defined exposure conditions. For anyone building rating plates, serial plates or equipment nameplates that have to survive a UL file review, using a UL 969-certified adhesive is often a specification requirement rather than a preference. If your customer's drawing calls it out, this is the line item that satisfies it.
ORABOND 1375 vs. 1377
Same pure acrylic chemistry, same temperature range. The difference is adhesive thickness, and thickness is what determines which surfaces the tape can bond to.

If you're not sure which one your substrate calls for, run the fingernail test: if you can feel texture on either surface, go to 1377. Or call us and describe the parts — this is an easy one to get wrong and an expensive one to rework.
Application notes
- Roll it on at the shallowest angle you can. ORAFOL calls this out specifically for transfer tape — a shallow application angle is what keeps air out of the bond line.
- Apply above 64°F. That's ORAFOL's minimum application temperature; a cold shop will cost you initial tack.
- Clean and dry the surfaces. Both faces need to be free of dust, oil, mold release and residue.
- Give it dwell time. Bond strength builds — 3.43 lb/in at one minute, 4.11 at twenty minutes, 4.57 at twenty-four hours. Don't stress-test the joint or load the part immediately after assembly.
- Chemical resistance follows the bond. With correct application, 1375 resists most mineral oils, fuels, greases, aliphatic solvents, weak acids, salts and alkalis.
- Store the roll flat or suspended in original packaging at around 68°F and 50% relative humidity for the full two-year shelf life.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between transfer tape and double-sided tape?
Transfer tape is adhesive only — no carrier film. Double-sided tape has a carrier (PET, tissue, foam) with adhesive on both faces. Transfer tape gives you a thinner, invisible bond line and direct load transfer; double-sided tape gives you gap-filling and easier handling. For flat rigid assembly, transfer tape is usually the right call.
Is this the same as sign application tape?
No, and it's an easy mix-up because of the name. Application tape (ORATAPE HT55, MT95 and the rest) is a low-tack carrier you use to move cut vinyl onto a substrate and then throw away. ORABOND 1375 is a permanent structural adhesive that stays in the assembly. Ordering one when you meant the other is a costly mistake — if you're transferring cut lettering, you want application tape.
Can I reposition a part after I set it?
Treat it as permanent. Peel builds from 3.43 lb/in at one minute to 4.57 lb/in at twenty-four hours, so there's very little forgiveness even at the start. Jig your parts, or use registration marks, rather than planning to lift and reset.
Will it bond to polyethylene or polypropylene?
Those are low-surface-energy plastics, and ORAFOL rates 1375 as extremely durable on metal, varnish and high-energy plastics and only "very durable" on low-energy surfaces. For LSE plastics, look at a tape formulated for them and test on your actual parts before committing to a production run.
Will it hold up outdoors?
The adhesive has excellent UV and humidity resistance and runs to 338°F, which covers most exterior sign exposure. ORAFOL doesn't publish an outdoor durability rating for 1375, so for exterior structural bonding tell us what you're building and we'll help you check whether this or a UHB tape is the right answer.
Which width should I order?
12" and 24" rolls are typical for die-cutting and general fabrication; 48" is for laminating full panels. If you're die-cutting shapes, order the width closest to your die so you're not wasting material.
