Product Description
ORACAL 6510 is a 4-mil fluorescent cast PVC film built for graphics that have to be seen — in full daylight, at dawn and dusk, and in rain, fog and other poor-visibility conditions. It is the short-term member of ORAFOL's fluorescent cast line: bright, cuttable, weedable, and priced for jobs measured in months rather than years.
Forty-eight inches is the full-panel width — trailer sides, banner-height copy, oversized P.O.P. and large numbers, all in one pass with no seam down the middle. At 10 yards you get 120 square feet of it, which is the smallest way to buy this width. If you have one big job in front of you and no reason to carry 600 square feet of a color afterward, this is the roll.
Where it works
- Trailer, box truck and van panels
- Motorsport and competition numbers
- Large-format point-of-purchase and retail signage
- Full-height window and door copy
- Emergency vehicle and boat safety graphics
- Event, race weekend and seasonal promotional graphics
ORAFOL rates the film for flat and conformable short-term applications. It is a cast film, so it cuts and weeds cleanly and handles gentle curves and corrugations — but it is not a wrap film and is not rated for deep recesses or compound curves.
Outdoor durability by color
| Color | ORAFOL item no. | Minimum life expectancy (unprinted, vertical) |
|---|---|---|
| Fluorescent Yellow | 029 | 2 years |
| Fluorescent Orange | 037 | 1 year |
| Fluorescent Red Orange | 038 | 1 year |
| Fluorescent Red | 039 | 1 year |
| Fluorescent Pink | 046 | 1 year |
| Fluorescent Green | 069 | 1 year |
Durability figures are ORAFOL's published minimum life expectancy for unprinted film on vertical surfaces, Climate Zone 1. Fluorescent pigments are inherently less UV-stable than standard pigments — under the high-UV, high-heat exposure typical of Arizona, Nevada and inland Southern California, expect the fluorescent effect to dull sooner than the published figure. Horizontal and sloped surfaces reduce service life further. Screen colors are approximate; ask us for a sample before committing to a color match.

Application tapes
ORAFOL recommends ORATAPE HT55 (paper) and ORATAPE MT95 (clear, conformable) for transferring cut 6510 graphics. HT55 is the everyday choice for lettering and numbers; MT95 is worth the upgrade when you need to see registration through the tape or the graphic has to lay into a curve. At this width, make sure your tape and your application surface are both wide enough before you start — a 48" panel is unforgiving if you have to piece the transfer.
Surface prep
Clean the substrate completely — dust, grease, wax and residue all cost you adhesion. Freshly painted or lacquered surfaces must be fully cured before application, and paint and clear-coat compatibility should be tested on a small area first. Roll numbers support batch traceability under ISO 9001, so keep the label if the job may need color-matched additions later.
Common questions
Should I buy this or the 48" x 50 yd?
The 48" x 50 yd roll is about 25% cheaper per square foot. If you run this width regularly, the 50 yard is the better buy. This 10 yard roll is for the one-off large job, or for a color you do not want 600 square feet of sitting on the rack.
Is 6510 the same as 7510?
No. Both are fluorescent cast PVC films with the same six colors, and they look nearly identical the day they go up. The difference is service life: 6510 gives 1 year (2 years in fluorescent yellow), while 7510 gives 2 years (3 years in fluorescent yellow). Buy 6510 for seasonal promotions, event graphics, race weekends and temporary safety markings. Buy 7510 when the graphic has to stay bright through more than one summer.
Will fluorescent vinyl glow in the dark?
No. Fluorescent film converts UV energy in daylight into visible light, which is why it looks unnaturally bright at dawn, dusk and under overcast skies. It needs a light source. For genuine glow-in-the-dark performance, look at photoluminescent films instead.
Can I laminate it?
An overlaminate adds abrasion resistance, but it also filters the UV that makes the film fluoresce, which mutes the effect. If the graphic will take physical abuse, laminate it and accept a duller appearance. If brightness is the whole point, leave it unlaminated.
How long will an unopened roll keep?
Two years in the original packaging at 68°F and 50% relative humidity. Store rolls upright or suspended, out of direct sun, and away from heat — a hot shop ceiling is the fastest way to age vinyl that has not been used yet.
