Product Description
Arlon DPF 510 High Tack is a 3.2-mil (80 micron) calendered digital print vinyl with a high-tack solvent-based pressure-sensitive adhesive — engineered for the substrates that defeat standard print films. Construction barricades, rough textured surfaces, low-energy plastics, and stubborn re-skin jobs that won't hold standard adhesive. Available in white gloss and white matte finishes. Rated for 3 years outdoor durability (unprinted).
The High-Tack Print Vinyl for Tough Surfaces
DPF 510 High Tack is the answer to a problem every sign shop runs into: a substrate that won't hold a standard pressure-sensitive vinyl. Construction barricade plywood, weathered MDO, textured plastics, low-energy substrates, and re-skin projects over old graphics — these surfaces are rough on standard adhesives and lead to lifting edges, callbacks, and rework.
510 High Tack solves this with a solvent-based, high-tack pressure-sensitive adhesive that develops ≥4 lb/in peel strength in just 15 minutes — more than 2.5x the bond strength of standard DPF 510. The aggressive grab also means more reliable installations on cold-weather job sites and rough textured surfaces where standard films fail.
What Does "High Tack" Actually Mean?
High-tack adhesives are formulated with stronger initial grab and higher ultimate bond strength than standard pressure-sensitive adhesives. The trade-off is reduced repositionability — once the film makes contact with the substrate, you have very little time to slide it before the bond sets. For graphics that need to stay put on rough, dirty, low-energy, or otherwise difficult substrates, that aggressive grab is exactly what you want. For graphics that need to be repositioned during install, choose a standard-tack film instead.
Key Features
- High-tack solvent-based adhesive — superior bond on rough, textured, and low-energy substrates
- ≥4 lb/in peel adhesion at 15 minutes — 2.5x stronger than standard DPF 510
- 3.2-mil (80 micron) calendered vinyl — substantial film weight for handling and durability
- Available with clear OR tinted adhesive — tinted versions provide opacity for covering existing graphics
- Two-sided polycoated liner — excellent lay-flat properties for clean printer feeding
- White gloss
- Compatible with major ink systems: Eco-Solvent, Solvent, and Latex
- 3-year outdoor durability (unprinted) — printed durability depends on ink system
- Wide service temp range: -20°F to 150°F
SKU Variants
DPF 510 High Tack is available in four SKU configurations — gloss/matte finish combined with clear/tinted adhesive:
510GT-HT (White Gloss, Tinted Adhesive)
70–90 Gloss UnitsWhite gloss vinyl with tinted gray high-tack adhesive. The tinted adhesive provides opacity to cover existing graphics or dark substrates — ideal for re-skin work.
Ink Compatibility
DPF 510 High Tack is compatible with three major print platforms:
Note that UV ink compatibility is not specified for the High Tack version — if you're running a UV printer, consider DPF 510GTX/MTX (with X-Scape Technology) which is rated for all four ink platforms including UV.
Ideal Applications
Construction Barricade Graphics
Plywood barricades, hoarding panels, and construction site signage where rough surfaces and outdoor exposure defeat standard adhesives. The high-tack bond holds up on weathered substrates that standard films can't grip.
Trade Show Graphics
Trade show booths, modular displays, fabric-textured panels, and event signage where rapid setup demands a film that grabs and holds on the first pass.
Tough Substrate Signage
Rough plastics, low-energy substrates, weathered metal, and any surface where standard pressure-sensitive vinyls show edge lift or tunneling within days of install.
Re-Skin & Cover-Up Projects
The tinted adhesive variants (510GT-HT, 510MT-HT) cover existing graphics — combine the opacity with high tack and you have a film designed specifically for retail re-skins on dirty or weathered host substrates.
Cold-Weather Installations
The high-tack adhesive provides more reliable initial grab in lower temperatures (within the application range) — useful for outdoor installs and unheated job sites where standard adhesives are sluggish.
Short-Term Promotional Graphics
Promotional displays, indoor and outdoor signage, retail graphics, and any short-term application where the substrate is the limiting factor — not the film.
