Installation Notes
- Inside application only — film is applied to the interior (2nd) surface of the glass.
- Minimum application temperature: 50°F (10°C). Glass surface and ambient air should both be at or above this temperature.
- Use standard wet-application technique with slip solution and a hard squeegee.
- Clean glass thoroughly — any contaminants under the film will be visible from both sides.
- For best results, allow 30 days of cure time before evaluating for any minor haze, which is normal during the moisture-release phase.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the privacy work in both directions?
One-way mirror films rely on a lighting differential — the side with more light appears mirrored, and the darker side can see through. During the day, with brighter exterior light, the film provides strong privacy from outside while allowing clear views from inside. The dual-reflective technology improves nighttime performance versus standard mirror films, but full reversal still occurs when interior lighting is significantly brighter than exterior conditions and shades or curtains are recommended for full nighttime privacy.
Can this film be applied to the outside of windows?
No. RT75CY is designed for inside (interior, 2nd surface) application only. Exterior application will compromise durability and is not warranted.
Is this film printable?
No. The Mirrored Dual Reflective Film is not designed for printing. For printable one-way privacy films, see Contra Vision's perforated white-on-black Performance and Campaign ranges.
What's the warranted life span?
Interior durability is rated up to 10 years under typical indoor conditions.
How much coverage does one roll provide?
A 60 in × 100 ft roll yields approximately 500 square feet of usable material before trim and waste — enough for roughly 8–12 average storefront windows or 25–40 residential windows.
Does this block heat as well as UV?
The film blocks 99% of UV radiation. While the reflective layer does contribute to solar heat gain reduction, this product is primarily classified as a privacy/decorative film rather than a dedicated solar-control film. For high-performance solar control applications, consult the Contra Vision technical team.
Is it safe to use on dual-pane / Low-E / tempered glass?
Contra Vision recommends consulting the glass manufacturer for compatibility on insulated glass units (IGUs), Low-E coated glass, and certain tempered configurations before application. KG Supplies can provide additional technical guidance — call us at the number on our contact page.
