Wall graphics have one big requirement that most vinyl doesn't: they have to come off cleanly. Whether it's a retail promotion, a pop-up, a rental space, or a client who changes their mind every season, nobody wants paint peeling off with the film. ORACAL 631 Matte is a removable, matte-finish calendered vinyl built for exactly that job, and it is one of the most popular films for interior walls, windows, and short-term signage.
What Is ORACAL 631 Matte?
ORACAL 631 is a calendered PVC plotter film with a matte finish and a clear, water-based, removable adhesive. It is 3 mil thick (without liner and adhesive) and is made by ORAFOL. The matte surface cuts glare, which makes it a good choice under bright store lighting and for photography-friendly spaces.

Tips for a Clean Install
- Apply to clean, smooth, fully cured surfaces. Freshly painted walls need to be completely cured, not just dry to the touch.
- Low-VOC and Zero-VOC paints can reduce adhesion, so test a sample panel first.
- Use ORATAPE HT55 (paper) or ORATAPE MT95 (clear conformable) as application tape.
- The film is for flat surfaces only. It is not intended for rivets, corrugations, compound curves, or vehicle wraps.
- White face film ships on a blue liner, which makes weeding easier to see.
631 vs. 641 vs. 651
Choose ORACAL 631 when the graphic needs to be removable. Look at ORACAL 641 for a permanent adhesive, or ORACAL 651 for an intermediate calendered film designed for longer outdoor use.
