Great channel letters are built from two parts: a face that gets noticed and a return that makes the letter look finished from every angle. The coil that forms the sides of the letter, the return, is where fabrication speed and edge quality really show. Copper Crest, our house brand at Kirin Global Supplies, offers .040 aluminum channel letter coil in 3.5" x 270' rolls, in white and gloss black.
What Is Channel Letter Coil?
Channel letter coil is pre-cut-to-width aluminum strip supplied on a roll. Sign fabricators bend it into the return (the side wall) of a dimensional letter, then attach a face and a back. Using a coil with a finished color saves a painting step on the sides of the letter and keeps production moving.

White gives a crisp, clean return that suits retail storefronts, lit letters where a bright edge is wanted, and any brand with a light palette.
Gloss Black gives a sleek, high-contrast sidewall that works well on modern building signs, and on letters where the return should disappear against a dark background.
Where It Works
- Channel letters and logos
- Dimensional building signage
- Retail and storefront signs
- Custom fabrication projects
Fabrication Tips
- Test a short length for bend quality on your letter bender before cutting a full job.
- Handle coil edges and faces carefully to protect the finish, and keep the roll in its packaging until you are ready to use it.
- Choose finishing, sealants, and mounting hardware suited to where the sign will be installed, especially outdoors.
- Match the color of your coil to the paint or trim cap color on the rest of the sign for a consistent look.
